May 2022 Updates from the Rowan County Republican Party

Dear Rowan Republicans,

The end of the Eternal Primary approaches. Due to Democrat court challenges, a Primary that should have ended on March 1 will finally end on May 17. Thank you to the candidates who have endured last minute boundary changes and an extended campaign period.

Candidates, I hope that you will stay active in party activities, whether you win or lose. An NCGOP document described that each candidate, whether you win or lose, has the choice to be conciliatory, gracious, spiteful, or to disappear. Candidates, I wish you all wisdom in your choice. Come May 18, the day after the Primary, the Rowan Republican Party will begin our efforts to elect all of our candidates in the General Election.

Although the Primary will end, the work of the party continues! We need volunteers for the headquarters. Contact Susan Agner to schedule your work times for May (704-647-0168, text or call). New volunteers welcome! We will be announcing more training opportunities soon for Precinct Chairs/Vice-Chairs, Voter Registration Drives, Door Knocking, and Phone Banking.

Our Headquarters Sponsor for the month of May is Rep Harry Warren. Thank you, Harry, for not only being a thoughtful, effective legislator, but also being a strong supporter of the Rowan Republican Party. Your commitment to grow the party, to develop younger leaders, and to share your counsel is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity on many levels.

Don Vick, a past party Chair, continues to recover from hip surgery after a fall. Please continue to keep him and Nancy in your prayers.

Thank you to Jeffrey Martinez for leading our Observer activities during the Primary. If you’re interested in getting involved, especially for the General Election.

If you haven’t voted yet, you can take advantage of One Stop Early Voting (Last day May 14). If you need to register, you must do that during One Stop Early Voting. You cannot register on Primary Election Day, May 17. The last day to request an Absentee Ballot is May 10.

Wishing you all a joyful, Republican day.
Elaine Hewitt
